MATER DOLOROSA LATIN MASS COMMUNITY
TIMELINE

1997        Mr. Ronny Paille and Mrs. Marie Diaz meet with Bishop
                 O’Donnell to request the Traditional Latin Mass.
                Request is denied.
 
 
1999       Ronny Paille establishes the Lafayette chapter of Una
               Voce.  Quarterly newsletters mailed out.
 
 
2003       Dr. Lonn Guidry submits 250 petition signatures to
               Bishop Michael Jarrell for a TLM- petition rejected.
   
 
2007       Bishop Michael Jarrell permits TLM to be celebrated in
               the Diocese of Lafayette at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
                Mass time is 1:00pm
 
 
December 10-14, 2007    Fr. William Lawrence, FSSP comes to
                 Lafayette to offer TLM Priest training at St. Jules Catholic
                 Church, Msgr Courville.
 
 
Oct. 24, 2009    First Traditional Latin Nuptial Mass in the
                  Diocese of Lafayette in over 40 years –
                  St Peter’s Catholic Church in Carencro.
 
 
Mar. 14, 2014    Father Gregory Pendegraft, Development Director, FSSP
                   visits TLM Community in the Diocese of Lafayette, LA.                                                               
                      
Oct. 4, 2014      Father Gregory Pendegraft, FSSP returns to the
                          TLM Community in Lafayette, LA to instruct the
                          Community on building a parish.
                        
 
Oct. 30, 2014   TLM Community presents petition with 535
                         signatures to Bishop Michael Jarrell asking for
                         a Traditional Latin Mass Parish.
                        
Nov. 4, 2014   Bishop Jarrell rejects TLM Community petition
 
 
January 2015  TLM Community establishes an FSSP Seminarian Burse.  $85,000.00 collected.
                                  
 
Feb. 17, 2016   Diocese of Lafayette Bishop Michael Jarrell retires.
 
 
Feb. 18, 2016   Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel becomes
                         Bishop of the Diocese of Lafayette, LA
 
 
Nov. 28, 2016   Fr. John Berg, Superior General, FSSP visits
                          the Diocese of Lafayette, LA
                           and has an audience with Bishop Deshotel.
 
 
March 14, 2017  TLM Community’s first meeting with Bishop Deshotel. (Rosary gift)
                                               
 
May 25, 2017    Bishop Deshotel gives permission for TLM
                          Community to establish a 501(c) 3. The
                             Traditional Latin Mass Foundation Inc is
                             organized.
                                         
 
August. 9, 2017     Bishop Deshotel gives permission for TLM
                                Foundation Inc to establish a building fund
                               to collect funds for a property and building
                               for the future TLM Parish.  He encourages the
                    TLMF to seek out and purchase property.                        
                           Bishop Deshotel advises that property must be
                               acquired before a parish can be established.     
 
                           
February 2018   Bishop Deshotel advises TLMF to seek out
                          possible chaplains for the future parish, and for
                          the TLMF to come up with a Latin name for the
                          Community and future parish.
 
 
Mar. 4, 2018   Sunday’s Latin Mass is moved on bishop’s mandate
                         from St. Peter’s in Carencro to Saint Leo IV in
                         Robert’s Cove, LA.  New Mass time:  12:00 (noon)
 
 
May 27, 2018    Traditional Latin Mass Community’s name is
                           changed to Mater Dolorosa Latin Mass
                          Community.
 
 
Aug. 5, 2018   Bishop Deshotel attends the Traditional Latin Mass.
                         Guest celebrant:  Fr. Daniel Kluge, Diocese of
                         Covington, KY.
 
 
Nov.17, 2018   Mater Dolorosa Latin Mass Community Fall
                          Festival.
 
 
January 16, 2019    Father Daniel Geddes, Assistant to the 
                                Superior General, FSSP, attends meeting with
                                Bishop Douglas Deshotel and the TLMF Board
                                of Directors.
                              
 
February 1-3, 2020    Father Zachary Akers, Development
                                   Director, FSSP visits Mater Dolorosa Latin
                                   Mass Community and offers Candlemas
                                   Mass followed by a reception.
 
 
May 10, 2020     COVID –
                           Mater Dolorosa Latin Mass Community leaves
                           Saint Leo’s in Robert’s Cove and is splintered
                           into 3 locations:  Our Lady of Lourdes,
                           Erath; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Crowley; Saint
                           Joseph’s, Plaisance.
                          
                           
 
April 23-26, 2021   Fr. James Jackson, FSSP headlines TLMF
                                Conference at St Patrick’s Church
                                in Lafayette, La.
 
 
September 29, 2021    TLMF purchases property @ 6489 Hwy 93
                                      Arnaudville, LA
 
 
October 31, 2021   Sunday’s Latin Mass is moved on bishop’s
                               mandate from Immaculate Heart of Mary in
                               Crowley to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in
                               Lafayette.  Mass time: 12:00pm (noon)
                              
 
March 29-31      TLMF hosts Lenten Mission given by Fr Hugues
                            Beaugrand, Institute of the Good Shepherd , at    
                           Mater Dolorosa Latin Mass Community Center.
 
 
 
June 7, 2022      Paid off loan balance at Home Bank for the
                          Mater Dolorosa Community Center
 
 
 
June 26, 2022   Sunday’s Latin Mass is moved on bishop’s
                         mandate from Saint Patrick’s in Lafayette and
                         Our Lady of Lourdes in Erath to Saint Martin
                         D’Tours, Saint Martinville. 
                          Mass time:  12:00pm (noon)
